Behind the Frozen Falls

In the state I live in there is a large waterfall that freezes over completely during the winter. A local secret is that there is a cavern behind the falls that one can climb up a cliffside to get into so long as they do not mind risking the very real danger of falling, as for almost the whole entire trek one is walking and climbing on sheer ice, or snow and mud.

It was well worth it to make the tricky climb with my camera and tripod, because much to my delight at that particular time of day the sun was still shining through the thick ice wall and lighting up the cavern. Not only that but to my astonishment I discovered after carefully picking my way deep enough into the cave and turning back to check my progress that minerals frozen into the water and the varying thickness of the ice resulted in different colors that happened to line up into a pale frozen rainbow!
